Professional Profile
Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork
My practice draws upon a lifelong interest in health and the body’s innate ability to heal itself. Over the past decade, I have developed highly specialized therapies for those suffering from chronic muscular pain, injuries and stress-related disorders. In a single session, a variety of traditional massage or manual therapy techniques may be used to facilitate the client’s return to homeostasis, balance and optimal function.
As a therapist, it is important to me that each person feels welcome and comfortable, for a relaxing atmosphere is essential in an effective healing environment. Rather than a generic massage routine as one would find in a spa, the client is individually assessed and given a treatment specifically tailored to their particular health care needs. The work is frequently deliberate and slow, allowing time for adhered or hardened soft tissue time to release tension. Other therapy sessions may be more invigorating when improved circulation is desired.
It is equally important to understand that natural healing from manual therapy takes time as the therapy initiates a gradual process of change in the body. It is best not to expect a quick fix or instant relief, especially if your pain is chronic, but you should feel improvement. Our physical bodies often heal more slowly than we would like them to. Patience with our own healing process is essential.
My background includes study of Usui Natural Healing: Reiki levels I, II and III; myofascial release with John F. Barnes, PT; the Paul St. John method of neuromuscular and trigger point therapy; Anatomy Trains with Tom Myers’ Kinesis, and cranial/structural therapy with Don McCann.
It is an honor for me to be a health care provider, and it gives me great joy to assist clients throughout their healing process.
